About the Preparation Program*
Alice Lloyd College is a private four-year liberal arts college, educating students from one hundred and eight Central Appalachian counties in five states for positions of leadership and service to the mountains. Alice Lloyd College is committed to meeting the financial needs of students with outstanding leadership potential through a guaranteed tuition policy. Deserving students from within the service region have the cost of their education met by a combination of scholarships, grants, and required participation in the student work program. These students are provided with high quality educational opportunities in an atmosphere in which Christian values are maintained. The model of the Teacher Education Program at Alice Lloyd College, Teacher As Compassionate Leader, demonstrates the Department's desire to develop teachers who facilitate learning, design and evaluate instruction, and empower learners. The Teacher Education Program currently offers Bachelor of Arts degrees in Elementary Education P-5, Middle School Education 5-9, English Education 8-12, Social Studies Education 8-12, Mathematics 8-12, and Physical Education P-12.
